Summer Recipe

Watermelon Sorbet: A Refreshing Summer Treat!

Indulge in the taste of summer with this easy Watermelon Sorbet. Made in just 5 minutes, it's a guilt-free treat for warm days. No ice cream maker needed! Sorbet is a dairy-free frozen dessert with a light and refreshing texture, like shaved ice. Homemade watermelon sorbet is naturally sweetened and healthier than store-bought. You can even skip the sugar!

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups frozen watermelon chunks (561 grams)

  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lime juice (15 grams)

  • 1 to 2 tablespoons maple syrup (22 to 44 grams)

  • 1 to 2 tablespoons water, as needed to blend (16 to 32 grams)

Instructions:

  1. In the bowl of a large food processor fitted with an "S" blade, add the frozen watermelon chunks and lime juice. Process briefly until the watermelon resembles shaved ice in the bowl.

  2. Add maple syrup to taste, starting with 1 tablespoon, and process again. Adjust the sweetness by adding another tablespoon if desired. Process once more.

  3. To achieve a smooth consistency, gradually add water, starting with 1 tablespoon. Process and add more water as needed until the sorbet looks smooth enough to serve.

  4. For immediate enjoyment, serve the sorbet while it's soft and scoopable. If making it in advance, transfer the mixture to a pan and freeze for 1 to 2 hours. Keep in mind that freezing it for longer will result in a harder texture that's difficult to scoop.

  5. Leftover sorbet can be transferred into ice pop molds for a delightful frozen dessert option later on.
